The Prime Print Group has recently installed a brand new C.P.Bourg BB3002 single clamp perfect binder from UK supplier Terry Cooper Services. The installation came as part of a £1m expansion plan which saw the company increase capacity in both its litho and digital departments, and the completion of a move to new 11.000sq ft premises in Nottingham.

"We are growing quickly, and we have had to invest to keep up with demand," says Director Jon Tolley, who was part of a team which completed a management buy-out of the company back in 1993. "Although we have seen growth across the board, we have performed especially well in the digital market, and now we have an excellent reputation as a producer of high quality variable data products. Our new C.P.Bourg binder was chosen because it's ideal for this kind of work."

He explains: "Personalised documents effectively have a run length of one, and any mistakes mean they have to be replaced. We were therefore looking for a highly automated binder which would set up in seconds, but more than that, the quality needed to be consistent - if it's not right first time, every time, it's no good. We looked at several machines but the BB3002 was the only one which had that consistency, and it also had a more solid build and greater ease of use. The gluing system is excellent, it produces a great bind no matter what the book thickness."

"Since the installation we have had no complaints and because it's a great one-copy machine we have used it as a proofer so customers can see what their finished product will look like," continues Mr Tolley. "It's also great for proof-of-concept work, when we are pitching an idea. Another big plus point for C.P.Bourg is their UK dealer TCS. They were very flexible and their service and response times were superb, I have nothing but praise for the TCS team."

The Prime Print Group contains three companies, Prime Litho, Prime Digital and Prime Stationery. It is 20 years old and had 20 staff. Its customer base includes an increasing amount of European companies. Mr Tolley says the company is on target for a £2m turnover in the current financial year.
